Questions about file translation
Does the layout survive translation?
Yes, largely untouched. Tables, images, columns, headers and footers stay roughly where they were — the document is not flattened to plain text and re-flowed. Contracts, tenders and technical manuals can be uploaded as-is.
What do I get back?
Two PDFs: a translation-only version for reading, and a side-by-side bilingual version for checking against the original.
How is it billed?
One credit per page, from the same balance as live interpretation. You are only charged when the translation succeeds — failures cost nothing. Page count is shown before you start.
Can I keep terminology consistent?
Yes. File translation shares the same glossary as meetings, so a term is rendered the same way throughout the document.
How large a document, and how long does it take?
Up to 500 pages per file — upload a document hundreds of pages long in one go, no splitting. In our tests a 300-plus-page document finished in about 20 minutes; progress is shown live and you can close the tab and come back.
Can it translate Excel?
Yes. .xlsx and .xlsm files up to 30 MB and 2 million characters; only the text in cells is translated, formulas and charts are kept. Charged by text volume, 1 credit per 1,000 characters. Legacy .xls and .csv are not supported — save as .xlsx first.
What about scanned PDFs?
Not supported. Scans and image-only PDFs have no text layer, so they cannot be translated with the layout kept. Encrypted or permission-restricted PDFs need the password protection removed before upload.
